I was so excited to see the 4 new eyeshadow quads from Vapour which contain organic and naturally derived ingredients. I watched all the Youtube videos out there. Some reviews were positive and then their were 2 reviewers who said the palette was dry, powdery and just not as good as other clean beauty palettes. I kept thinking, surely it can't be that bad?
Vapour kindly sent me this btw! I have 3 other reviews on their new products and i'm obsessed with them.
Thoughts
Below I put this palette through some intense testing (so be sure to read below). My findings are as follows. This palette is dry, powdery and grainy feeling on the fingers. Finger swatching the palette for the first time was scary because the pan would dissolve under my finger, creating a lot of kick-up. It felt as if there were not enough binders. The finger swatches I created were pigmented, there's no issue there. It's just that the the swipe down required multiple passes to spread the excess powder that seems to cluster together.
The palette does apply to the eye fine if use with a brush that is not too dense (so as to not pick up an excess of powder). If you've got super oily lids you might love this as it's a drier formula. The blend I got was really pretty.
Overall, the palette is totally workable but I could definitely see room for improvement. If you're extremely picky about formula, this palette is not for you. If you're just a simple gal when it comes to eye looks, you might like this. If I were to re-pick a palette from them, I would definitely gone with Hypnotic or Labyrinth as they have satin shades and a better colour scheme. I could see those two working better.

The first two ingredients in these shadows are mica and corn starch. No talc so that's nice. I own 2 other products that are cornstarch based. The Antonym Highlighting blush has a sort of grainy feel and the pan dissolves when a finger touches it. I also have the Maison Jacynthe eyeshadows and they feel like any other eyeshadow despite containing cornstarch. I suspect that the formula of the Vapour shadows needs to me milled a little finer with some more binders like an oil.
How's the Colour Scheme?
I am all about 'blah' colours for my hooded eyes so this palette really will get use from me. The only thing I have to criticize with the colour story is there is no shade in between the 2 transitions and the dark shade. I find the two matte transition shades are pretty light. The lightest shade is also invisible on my skintone, it's more to make blending a breeze. I would have liked if it was a metallic ivory so I could highlight my brow bone.
Comparing to Charlotte Tilbury The Sophisticate
I don't normally compare products but I was curious to compare this to the Charlotte tilbury palette to see if that one felt the same to swatch given the shades were so similar.
As you can see, one swipe of Charlotte Tilbury is smooth and has no excess powder on the arm swatch or in the pan. One swipe of the Vapour results in excess powder on a swatch and in the pan.
On the eyes, Charlotte Tilbury takes a little more building and has a satin-matte finish where the Vapour is a very matte finish.

The first time I applied this I used a short and dense brush and ended up with a black eye. I switched to a less dense packing brush so that I wouldn't pick up as much powder. Way better!
