Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop

The Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop claims to be a unique and effective serum formulated with pure vitamin C stabilized L-Ascorbic acid to mildly improve skin tone and texture without harsh irritation.

This is first product I tried from Klairs. I was super excited to try it as i've seen this brand everywhere and assumed they use more luxurious ingredients based off the packaging and the fact it's Korean skincare. But I felt a little underwhelmed. Housed in a clear plastic container, the formula is weak for a vitamin C serum. I feel there are more effective Vitamin C products out there. I've used Vitmain C serums that knocked my socks off and really brightened my skin (Timeless Skin, Mychelle). I just felt this formula was diluted by a host of unnecessary filler ingredients which would be fine if it was a moisturizer, but it's a targeted serum. This serum may be good at a one-time started Vitamin C serum to break your skin in slowly to using Vitamin C. My skin is used to 20% Vitamin C so this did nothing for me.

The texture of this serum is definitely unique, it surprised me. It's very slippery and tacky feeling. It feels like a thinner form of vegetable glycerin. This texture comes from the second ingredient for the most part, Propylene Glycol (which they spelt wrong, hopefully they caught it now). It will not sink into skin but rather sit on top. There is no scent which also surprised me as typically serums containing vitamin c serums and essential oils have an almost fruity smell. Which brings me to my next point. This formula contains a host of ingredients I am unfamiliar. Higher on the ingredient list we can find essential oils listed such as Grapefruit Fruit Extract, Anise Fruit Extract, Lavender Oil and what they oddly call ''Orange Oil Brazil'' which I think is Orange Peel Oil. Although your skin may not have any issues with essential oils, these particular ones are said to be sensitizing and can cause photosensitivity so for that I dock points off this product.  I'm still researching essential oils in skincare to find out if they're as bad as they're said to be.

This serum contains  5 % absorbic acid. My skin is familiarized to acids and vitamin C in higher concentrations.I experienced zero tingling or burning with this. This would be a good short term introductory vitamin c product to introduce to your skin, but I wouldn't use it long term for the essential oil reason. I think the brightening effect of this serum will be very subtle, don't expect anything drastic.

Lastly, there are lots of anti-oxidants added (peptides).

I looked more into this brands products and I think it's one that i'll be skipping on. I do give props to being cruelty free and having cute packaging though!

This retails for $23 CAD or $30.50 at Wishtrend.
