Beauty Counter Review Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation linen mattifying powder fluores swatch blogger canadian
For those of you unaware of Beautycounter, they sell non-toxic or health conscious skincare, cosmetics, hair care and body care products online and through their consultants. I see them as the 'green' version of Avon or Mary Kay. The company indicates that they want to produce healthier products without sacrificing quality. Some of their ingredients are organic, some natural and some safer synthetic ingredients. They're trying a lot harder to be health conscious and open about the safety of their products than the majority of beauty companies i've seen, which I really appreciate.  I recommend you check out their safety mission and FAQ website page. It's really interesting.
At Beautycounter, we’re committed to a health and safety standard that goes well beyond what’s required by U.S. and Canadian law: We’ve banned the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals through our Never List—all while ensuring our products perform and that they’re as indulgent as any luxe shampoo, lipstick, or oil in the market.

Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation
$51 CAD $41 US

The reason I love this foundation is that it provides some coverage to my dark marks and skin redness without clogging my pores. I've had no breakouts at all when using this. For years, i've been in a constant battle with trying to cover acne, post-acne marks and skin redness without causing more acne in the process. I think most of us agree, wearing foundations clogs pores more than a tinted moisturizer or bb cream would. I understand why they call this product a foundation. It provides a little more coverage than most bb creams i've tried. It's a light/medium coverage and feels like a thick, tacky cream. It give the skin a lovely dewy glow. With one layer applied, I notice my complexion looks a lot more even. My dark spots aren't covered completely, but are less apparent. I notice a lot of streaks when I rub it in with my fingers or a brush, but they were easily patted out with a sponge or my fingers. Concealer layers on top of this foundation very well, as does a setting powder. I set it with the Beautycounter Mattifying Powder and it looked great everywhere I didn't have a dry flake. The wear time is as good as I expect a foundation to be. I'm really happy with it.

For reference, my exact foundation shade in MUFE HD Foundation in Y225.

Mattifying Powder
$45 CAD

This powder is also a winner for me. I've tried the infamous Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder and liked how it sat on my foundation but won't purchase it because I usually spend more money for products to not contain parabens. The Beautycounter Mattifying Powder looked the same on my skin, if not a little better. I usually never like to set my foundation with powder because it just doesn't look good on me. My skin has a lot of dryness and I have texture under my eyes, milia. This mattifying powder actually looked good on my undereye and face. As always, it clung to serious dry patches which is expected. It took away shine perfectly and left no white cast on my skin. I've used this on the deepest of skin with no whitecast. This texture feels very fine to touch and seems to... fill in micro pores on my face. It's really hard to explain. It just looked good.

There is an ingredient in this that could be problematic for people with acne prone skin: Bismuth Oxychloride. I've had no breakouts yet with this powder and don't think I will. I've also never had problems with that ingredient but wanted to mention this for people who have had trouble with it before (like if you broke out from BareMinerals products containing that ingredient)

The ingredients are listed on their website. Have you heard of Beautycounter or tried anything? I'm happy with both these products. I've been eyeing their blushes now.
